Greetings to my praying friends,

Like spitting in to a hurricane.  That is the view many have of ever slowing the flow of pornography much less of eliminating the evil completely.  We, the people, when aroused, can exert great pressure.  Example:  Porn sites have been eliminated in libraries.  Restrictions have been placed on airline passengers to prevent exposure of porn to others on the plane via  their computers or i-pads...

Brothers,

I have been directing my messages to fathers. It seems God has expectations relating to fathers to teach, to direct, and to model for their children how they should live.  Fathers are directed to teach God’s ways rather than allow the secular world to form their thinking and moral values.  I feel we have just scratched the surface on this subject.

Recently I have encountered the issue of angry fathers...

A common question for parents is:  How old should a daughter be to go out on a “date” that is one boy, one girl, one car, and a destination?  What time should he bring her home?  Dating in the western world is the usual way in our culture  to find a life’s mate.  In the Eastern world many marriages are arranged by parents.

This is a system also with many faults and can cause much abuse for the woman involved.  How successful is the Western world’s way? We have 50% of the marriages ending in divorce even in the church world.  This doesn’t convince me that we have it right either.
Is the dating system at fault?  Perhaps, but more likely, the issue is about how the young people are taught and prepared to be alone with the opposite sex.

What values have they been gi...

Greetings brothers,

The goal:  Sexual Purity

The Prize:  Being a virgin on your wedding night.

It is true that staying a virgin has lost its importance in today’s culture.  But not in God’s eyes.

This same o...

Greetings brothers in Christ,

As you know, I have been writing to educate you and inform you re:  pornography and the harm it does in the lives of thousands of young men.

Today I would like to expose one of the underpinnings for porn’s popularity.  It is simply that young men go there to get educated about sex.   The average age of boys on porn is 11 years old. The usual experience is to have little or no information transferred by parents to their growing children.  They expect the school health class to do that for them.

Arthur’s Weekly Message (2/25/13) – Can we really blame pornography?

Hello my friends,

Can we really blame pornography (print or internet) for the devastation in marriages and families?  There are so many stories of this being true.

One recent story involved a professional musician who left his wife and children for two 20 yr. old women. The second story involves a mature man married with family.  One night he went out where he knew he could find a “for hire” sex partner.  He was picked up and arrested for soliciting sex.  He was a Christian leader of youth at his church, a business man, a husband, and a father. Imagine the stress and trauma he caused his family, friends, business people, and the church which trusted him to lead their children. His wife decided to forgive him.  The marriage held but the rest of his life was permanently scarred.  Pornography was at the bottom of his downfall.

How many hundreds of other stories are out there?

All of these stories have at the center of them a man who solicits sex.  He is called a john.

I have foun...

Greetings my friends,

I have been considering lately how a person trapped in a pornography addiction could possibly escape.  There are sites with treatment plans which all emphasize how difficult it is. They usually explain that an addicted person cannot quickly arm his or herself against this great evil without a great deal of help.

I especially hear the phrase, “You cannot do it by yourself.  Trying harder only ends up in further failure.”

I have not encountered a site that explains the Biblical way to break the hold of the evil on a believer’s mind and spirit.  What I have heard are some stories of women and girls trapped in sex slavery under the cruel control of pimps.  We have the story of Leslie King, a 20 year. prostitute in Grand Rapids.  She was abused as a child and forced into prostitution.

One night after m...

Dear Friends,
Today I would like to give you an illustration of how porn harms.  This story is admittedly an extreme picture but none the less true.

It is an informative piece to alert us to the potential harm pornography causes.

It takes place in a city in our own Pacific Northwest, not some carnal and evil city in an ungodly nation.  It is about a man addicted to pornography who had a wife and two little boys. When the authorities caught up with him it was believed he had killed his wife who had disappeared two years before and had never been convicted. His two boys were put into custody of the wife’s parents.

He was given  weekly supervised visitation with them.  On a Saturday a scheduled planned visit was in progress.  The social worker brought the two boys to his house as usual. Before she could get out of the car the boys (5 and 7), had jumped out and run to the front door.  The father quickly opened the door and let them in and locked the door not allowing the social worker to come in.  Immediately there was an explosion and the house was on fire. The father and the two boys died in the fire.  Investigators found that the father had set the fire himself.  He had soaked the house in gasoline.

How d...

Fellow pilgrims, greetings from your friend Arthur in Oregon.

How difficult is it to eliminate pornography from your mind and your spirit? I would like to continue the analogy of my bout with pneumonia.

As I reported, I developed a cough after I fell and injured my rib cage on the left side.  In the beginning I thought all I needed to do was to wait three or four weeks for the rib pain to go away.  However, I developed the cough and became quite nauseated and vomited some of the contents into my lungs.  Shortly, the material in my lower lung sacs began to react and decrease my oxygen exchange capacity.  My cough intensified resulting in bringing up blood.

At that point I knew what I was developing was very serious and had the potential to kill me.  We went to the physician who immediately hospitalized me and started an antibiotic IV, oxygen, and complete rest was required.  After three days of intensive treatment the death process was turned around and I was released on the fourth day.  I am now at home with oxygen, physical therapy, antibiotics, and rest,  waiting for  and expecting a complete recovery.

So you see, what strong intervention was needed to turn the situation around.  I would not have survived without their help.

Hello my friends,

For those of you who have been following my weekly messages or for you who are just starting I have an analogy to present.

I recently came down with pneumonia.  It was my first bout with this.  I was surprised because I didn’t realize what I had until it began to take over my body.  I developed a fever, lost my energy, lost my focus.  The physician examined me and diagnosed what I had.  We can treat you but it will take time. You must follow certain procedures to help yourself. This will not go away by itself.  It needs to be forcefully treated.

What ...
